The drafting of Sunday newspaper voted almost unanimously to continue the strike movement to denounce the appointment of far-right journalist Geoffroy Lejeune as director of the weekly, announced its Society of Journalists (SDJ) on Wednesday 28 June. In total, 97% of voters expressed themselves for the continuation of the movement, detailed the SDJ, specifying that a new vote would be held Thursday morning.

“Despite the scale of the dispute, Arnaud Lagardère, Chairman and CEO of the Lagardère group, maintained this choice on Tuesday in the face of the assembled editorial staff”, added the LDS. The journalists of Sunday newspaper had started their strike movement six days earlier, to protest against the arrival of the former director of the far-right weekly Current values.

A support evening was organized on Tuesday by Reportes sans frontières, bringing together nearly a thousand people. Several trade union and political leaders took part, calling for the protection of press freedom. More than 400 personalities from all walks of life have also signed a forum at the Worldin support of the strike movement.
