USL Dunkirk announced that it had carried out “a report” to the Professional Football League (LFP), Wednesday April 24, after one of its players was targeted by racist insults, according to the USL, uttered by a Bordeaux player during the match of the 34th day of Ligue 2 opposing the two clubs on Tuesday.
“USL Dunkerque is deeply saddened and shocked by the racist insults uttered by one of the players of the opposing team against one of our players during the match against Bordeaux”communicated the northern club, without mentioning the names of the two men or specifying the comments made.
“We would like to express our unconditional support to our player as well as to all athletes who suffer such acts”adds the USLD, 15th in the championship after its defeat in Bordeaux (2-0).
The disciplinary committee meets Thursday
For its part, the LFP clarified to AFP that “the disciplinary committee will meet tomorrow [jeudi] and will put the case under investigation. The Dunkirk club added to AFP : “If there was no mention of this incident immediately after the match, it is because it was a procedure that took a little time. The report was made in a report to the delegate after the match.”
The Girondins de Bordeaux club, in a press release sent to AFP, said it was taking “these accusations very seriously and [nous] We immediately opened an investigation to shed light on these events.”. The Bordeaux club also ensures that “if the facts were proven, the club undertakes to take all necessary sanctions with the greatest firmness”.
