The Ducks would part ways with Dave Nonis

The Anaheim Ducks have reportedly decided to end their association with assistant general manager Dave Nonis.

This is what the sports site The Athletic said on Saturday.

Nonis, 55, previously served as GM with the Vancouver Canucks (2004-2008) and Toronto Maple Leafs (2013-2015).

He had been recruited by the Californian formation as a recruiter and consultant to general manager Bob Murray after being fired by the Queen City club.

In early February, the Ducks hired Pat Verbeek as general manager. The latter recently named former National Hockey League (NHL) player Scott Niedermayer as his assistant.

There was therefore no more room for Nonis, who would have been released before the end of his contract so that he could obtain a new job with another team on the Bettman circuit.

For their part, Martin Madden and Jeff Solomon would remain in their roles as assistants to the GM of the Ducks.
