In the United States, in Kentucky, a truck driver found herself suspended in the air, on board her vehicle. She was able to be saved by the firefighters.

A truck suspended more than 15 meters above the water, ready to tip over at any moment. Prisoner in the cabin, the driver waits for help. After 40 minutes of fear above the void, she was pulled up at the end of a rope. The happy ending of a three-vehicle accident that occurred Friday, March 1, on a bridge that crosses the Ohio River in Louisville, Kentucky (United States).

A meticulous rescue operation

The semi-trailer crashed into the safety barrier, and firefighters carried out an impressive rescue operation. “The truck was rocking over the edge of the bridge. We were very concerned about the lack of stability which put our men in danger. (…) The truck could fall at any moment,” said Brian O’Neill, chief of the Louisville Fire Department. A firefighter finally managed, using a crane, to abseil into the cabin, detach the driver’s seat belt and hook her to her harness.
