The film The plunger, adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name, today reveals its first images. Directed by Francis Leclerc, the feature film stars Henri Picard (Cerebrum, Lou & Sophie, STAT) in the title role, a 19-year-old metal-loving graphic design student addicted to gambling.
In the winter of 2002, Stéphane becomes a dishwasher in a restaurant to get out of debt, not without rubbing shoulders with colorful colleagues and a colorful fauna. The trailer of more than two minutes gives pride of place to video lottery machines, banging bottoms and the cuisine of the Trattoria. The dark images conclude with the song The stolen night, dogs. “People are beautiful in the afternoon/But Montreal is more beautiful at night”. The plunger, an autobiographical novel by Stéphane LaRue, was a resounding success when it was published by Le Quartanier in October 2016. It won the Prix des libraires du Québec and the Senghor prize for the first French-language novel the following year. Eric K. Boulianne and Francis Leclerc co-wrote the feature film, which is due to hit theaters in February 2023.
