The director general of the STM leaves his post

A pillar of the Société de transport de Montréal is about to pack up. Its director general, Luc Tremblay, confirmed on Wednesday that he will not renew his mandate within the organization.

After having worked for 28 years within the transport company, including nearly eight years as general manager, Mr. Tremblay will leave it on April 2. The organization, which manages the metropolitan metro and bus network, made the announcement in a press release on Wednesday morning.

This departure comes a few months after the departure of the chairman of the board of the STM, Philippe Schnobb, who has since been replaced by the elected representative of Projet Montréal Éric Alan Caldwell. It also comes at a time when the transit company is facing significant financial challenges in the context of the pandemic, which has undermined ridership throughout its network.

More details will follow.
