The reform of Justice was presented this Wednesday, May 3 in the Council of Ministers, Éric Dupont-Moretti promises a budget of 11 billion euros for 2027 and the recruitment of 10,000 people. Faster justice with the experimentation of the Digital Criminal Hearing, a small revolution.

For an unprecedented digital audience, there are no paper files, only computers. From the police to the court, some criminal proceedings are fully computerized, a virtuous device for the prosecution. “An hour saved on the preparation of a dossier is absolutely essential. The immediate appearances, it’s ten files in the afternoon and we only have the morning to apprehend these files”explains Nicolas Jacquet, public prosecutor.

Only two digital audiences per month

Thanks to digitized procedures, lawyers, judges and magistrates all receive the documents from the judicial file at the same time. For registry officers, this is a radical change. The criminal order office, for example, deals with procedures filed without follow-up for the archives, a considerable volume of paper. “For example, for the day of March 21, we have for example 12 boxes of archives, only for a day of classifications without follow-up. Which is quite stressful when you have stacks and stacks piling up in your desk”, confides Christelle Marot, director of the registry service of the Lyon court. Due to often obsolete computer equipment, the third largest court in France only schedules two digital hearings per month.
