On the 150th day of war in Ukraine, the port of Odessa was targeted by strikes. The attack comes the day after an agreement on the unblocking of grain exports. Russia denies any involvement.

In footage released by the Odessa City Council, ships are seen on fire after a missile strike. Ukraine accuses Russia, which denies. The bombings come the day after an agreement between the two countries on the transport of wheat, in the main export port of Ukraine. “This only proves one thing: no matter what Russia says and promises, it will find ways not to implement it, it will use geopolitics, weapons or whatever. That’s always how she behaves“, asserted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The strikes were immediately condemned by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borell, who lamented “Russia’s utter disregard for international law and commitments“. For its part, Turkey said to itself concerned about these bombardments. Hulusi Akar, the Turkish Minister of Defence, however assured that his country would continue “to honor [ses] commitments in this agreement“.
