According to initial information, the driver of a sedan would have deviated from his lane, for an as yet unknown reason, before colliding with a minivan.
The three occupants of the sedan, an adult and two 4-year-old children, were seriously injured as a result of the impact.
“[Les deux enfants] were airlifted to a hospital in the Montreal area,” said Agent Camille Savoie, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Monday morning, we still feared for their lives.

A second drama
The family involved in this accident is that of Ken Moreau, one of the survivors of the Amqui tragedy where three people lost their lives after being hit by a van on Saint-Benoît Boulevard on March 13. In this case, Steve Gagnon, the man driving the pickup, faced three murder charges and nine attempted murder charges, including the one against Mr. Moreau.
The latter had also delivered poignant testimonies following the tragedy, telling how he had tried to help the victims harder hit than him.
“I heard a noise behind me, boom, and I turned around, and what I saw was horror. I saw people being hit, the whole gang,” he told TVA at the time.
In a sad twist of fate, The newspaper learned that it was he who was driving the sedan that veered off course and hit a minivan on Sunday afternoon. He was with his daughters Kylie and Kyra when the incident happened, as they returned from a weekend at a chalet.
A crowdfunding campaign was launched by a friend via the GoFundMe platform to help the family get through this ordeal.
Fatigue responsible?
Note that a third child, this time aboard the minivan, also suffered serious injuries, but his condition remains stable. The driver was slightly injured.
According to the provincial police force, fatigue would have had a role to play in this story. The SQ also rules out any criminal act for the moment.
A reconstructionist went to the scene on Sunday evening to clarify the circumstances surrounding this accident.
