In Severodonetsk (Ukraine), in this permanently bombed city, the inhabitants have to hide in shelters, often in very precarious conditions.

A few hundred meters from the front line, in Severodonetsk (Ukraine), the streets are deserted, or almost. The inhabitants are holed up waiting for the next bombardments from the Russian army. In this shelter, six meters below the surface, there are nearly a hundred of them piled up on top of each other. Many are sick, tuberculosis is raging, and some have caught pneumonia. But this is the only place where they think they can survive the constant bombardment.

On the surface, only a few distraught people remain. Gunshots and Russian bombs punctuate the daily life of the inhabitants, some of whom feel totally abandoned by the Ukrainian army. “They left town, they left us all behind, what kind of heroes are they?”laments one of them.
