The A-shaped house, all in wood and to be built yourself, is a great success in France. Meeting with Elizabeth Faure, who built her 180 m2 home on her own.
At the age when some are enjoying their retirement, Elizabeth Faure moves mountains. At 65, she improvised as a builder and imagined a house in the shape of a triangle, within reach of all budgets. “There are no walls. It’s just a roof, so it costs very little,” she explains. It was ten years ago. She built her 180 m2 house alone, for 40,000 euros. She put down her suitcases after a year and a half of construction.
The A-frame house is warm, simple to live in and bathed in light. During the construction of her house, she made tutorials, posted on the internet. In a few weeks, his tutorials were seen by tens of thousands of people. Elizabeth Faure has even aroused vocations, especially since confinement. “There are many young people who want to live differently, independently, on land. Otherwise, it’s only the rich who have wheat, or else we go into debt for 25 years”, she confides. Today, A-frame houses are flourishing throughout France. More than a hundred are under construction in the country.
