Faced with the fall in Russian gas deliveries, Germany has just activated the alert level of its emergency plan, and intends to put the package on wind energy by accelerating the development of its parks.

More wind turbines closer to homes. In a village in Bavaria, as everywhere in Germany, the last recalcitrants will soon have no choice regarding the installation of wind turbines near their homes. Indeed, local rules are no longer authoritative. However, they are often the obstacles to the installation of wind turbines. The German authorities plan that there will no longer be any minimum distance between wind turbines and homes, as long as the objective set by the State has not been reached. About 2% of the territory must be covered with wind turbines within ten years, against 0.8% currently.

In order to reduce in particular the dependence on Russian gas, wind energy becomes according to the law a question of national security. This is a revolution in Germany, a federal country where the regions normally have broad powers in environmental matters. There are already more than three times as many wind turbines in Germany as in France, but the country still wants to accelerate to reach its goal: 80% electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
