“The climb? We think about it more and more” confesses Denis Genreau, the middle of the TFC

With the absence of captain Brecht Dejaegere, the Franco-Australian midfielder takes up much more playing time in midfield. Denis Genreau talks about this last third of the Ligue 2 season and his personal goals.

We imagine that there are smiles in the group with the current dynamic?

“Three wins in a row, that’s great. There’s a good spirit in the group and I think we’ve found the benchmarks we had before. The attacking path, etc. We have to continue but we’re happy. Everyone knows our goal. We want to step up and we’re working super hard in training. It shows in matches at the moment so that’s good.”

You have been a starter for several matches. How are you feeling ?

“I’m getting on the level of confidence. There was a little time to adapt because it’s a tough championship. I feel good, I’m starting to get along well with Nathan, Stijn or Branco. They’re great guys and they are top players. I learn a lot from them every day.”

What are the points to improve in your game?

“The coach asks me to make a lot of deep calls. I have to be more decisive. At the moment I’m one goal and two assists away. I have the ambition to do better. I manage to be in good areas but I need to get things done and make more assists.”

“The climb? We think about it more and more”

Are we already thinking about the climb?

“That’s been our goal from the start. We’re thinking about it more and more but it’s not done yet. We’re still confident that we can get there. We have to hope that everything goes well in the end of the season.”

What are the pitfalls to avoid when everyone is already sending you to Ligue 1?

“We must not believe that we are already in Ligue 1. There are many matches left. We still have to work.”

The enthusiasm around the club is strong, we saw it at the Stadium again against Le Havre…

“It was magnificent against Le Havre. It was really a great atmosphere. We play football for our supporters, it’s nice to see them happy. The public will have a huge role to play until the end of the season. ”

Outside, there will still be a big movement of supporters on Monday…

“It’s incredible. We are sometimes 300 km away and we only hear the people of Toulouse. It’s great to have that kind of atmosphere.”
