the city of Limoges is a candidate for welcoming Ukrainian refugees

After having symbolically illuminated the town hall in the blue and young colors of Ukraine since last Friday, the city of Limoges is making a concrete proposal to come to the aid of the populations fleeing the fighting inflicted by the Russian army. The mayor of Limoges, Emile-Roger Lombertie, proposes to the State to make available to potential Ukrainian refugees the empty premises of the former Marcel Faure nursing home, in the district of La Bastide. This building could accommodate several dozen people in very comfortable conditions.

“The city of Limoges cannot accommodate all the global transhumance, on the other hand being available to welcome people driven from their homes by war and who are fleeing death, it is European solidarity and it is solidarity that we must to nations” affirms the mayor of Limoges after having made this offer to welcome the prefect of Haute-Vienne. “We can receive populations that we can even educate on site, if necessary to teach them French if they do not know” considers Emile-Roger Lombertie.

Referring to the provision of these premises, as well as the supply of water, gas and electricity, the mayor of Limoges still hopes for financial support from the State so that “it’s not the limougeauds who pay everything” what this welcome would represent.
