On Sunday February 19, the Citizens’ Convention on the End of Life came out with a majority in favor of assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Last December, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne opened the Citizens’ Convention with this question: “Is the end-of-life support framework still suitable?” A large majority of participants answered no. Of 167 citizens drawn by lot, 75% voted for an opening to active assistance in dying, Sunday February 19. Regarding the possible remedies, 72% were in favor of assisted suicide, and 66% for euthanasia.
