Columnist and historian Frédéric Bastien died suddenly at the age of 53 on Tuesday.
An article posted on the sites of the Montreal Journal and Quebec newspaper announced the news, quoting the spouse of Frédéric Bastien, Marie-Ève Lépine.
The father of three children died suddenly at his home after a stationary bike session, it is said.
A former candidate for the last Parti Québécois leadership campaign, Frédéric Bastien taught at Dawson College. Trained as a historian, he became known for the publication of The Battle of Londona work proposing the thesis that the patriation of the Canadian constitution would have been a coup d’etat made possible by two justices of the Supreme Court.
