It’s a great party that is preparing for next week at the Center national de Tir Sportif in Déols-Etrechet. The CNTS will host, from June 6 to 13, the second Para-Shooting World Cup, bringing together nearly 300 athletes from 51 countries. An event that requires a lot of preparation, somewhat hectic because of the damage from the hailstorm. Sébastien Lebeau, the director of the CNTS, was the guest of France Bleu Berry this Monday morning.
Arrival of the first delegations tomorrow
Over the past week, work has accelerated for the CNTS team: the violent hailstorm that hit the Indre did not spare the establishment, which recorded more than 7,000 impacts on the roofs of the shooting range. “Shooting pads and targets are also damaged, it’s a bit catastrophic” explains Sébastien Lebeau. The workers worked hard to seal the leaks and restore the infrastructure in time for the competition. “Not everything will be fixed, but we have tried to do our best so that people can see nothing at all”. A race against time, because the first delegations, those of Dubai and France, arrive this Tuesday, May 31, to train.
In total, 270 athletes from 51 countries are expected, for this second Para-Shooting World Cup; the first had already been organized in 2018 on the site.
It’s a source of pride because it means that the International Federation trusts us and that the site also works to host such competitions.
A competition accompanied by a great party: on the evening of June 6, a opening ceremony is organized on the town hall square, with a parade of flag bearers. Children from Déols, Etrechet and Châteauroux will also be there, and a concert will be given in the afternoon. Residents and curious people can also come discover the discipline through animations.
The Olympic Games, still a great unknown
Asked about the potential hosting of the Olympic sports shooting events in 2024 at the CNTS, Sébastien Lebeau claims to have no information and not be linked to Paris 2024the organizing committee. “I remain on what Paris announced, that is to say that we were plan B and that the priority remained La Courneuve”. The board of directors is due to meet on July 12 to announce its decision, but there too, nothing is certain.
What is certain, in any case, is that the Center national de Tir Sportif of Déols-Etrechet will be able to host Olympic delegations for training. “We really open up to all countries”assures the director, who also explains that if the Committee decides to entrust the events to the Berry site, all the installations are up to standard to organize them.
