A couple whose daughter died in a car accident were invited to meet Transport Minister Geneviève Guilbault at a fundraising cocktail to discuss measures to improve road safety.
Elizabeth Rivera and her husband Antoine Bittar are campaigning for the imposition of administrative sanctions for drivers caught behind the wheel with a blood alcohol level of 0.5 mg.
The office of CAQ MP Marilyne Picard suggested that Mr. Bittar, whose daughter died in 2017, participate in a fundraising activity where Ms. Guilbault was present.
Ms. Rivera said that the meeting with Ms. Guilbault, in a restaurant where the event was held, in 2023, lasted two minutes.
Québec solidaire (QS) affirmed that the political party has not yet decided whether an investigation on this subject will be requested from the Ethics Commissioner of the National Assembly.
Two other investigations into similar cases have been opened by Commissioner Ariane Mignolet since the end of January.
Further details will follow.
