The section “Allô la France” is interested, Thursday, April 7, in the question of medical deserts.
One of the priorities of the French in this presidential campaign, after purchasing power, is health. Journalist Adrien Rochard answers questions from three viewers on this subject. He notably looked into the question of medical deserts. Inequalities in access to care affect many territories. Thus, 30% of the French population lives in a medical desert. Since 2010, there has been a 9% drop in the number of general practitioners in France.
According to one of the viewers, digital could be a solution to medical deserts. But that would not be viable, because the patient population may be elderly and does not necessarily have access to these tools. In addition, the virtual does not replace the physical appointment. To deal with the shortage of doctors, presidential candidates are advocating financial incentives. This is the case of Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, Emmanuel Macron, Marine Le Pen, Éric Zemmour, Jean Lassalle, Anne Hidalgo and Valérie Pécresse. Fabien Roussel, Yannick Jadot and Jean-Luc Mélenchon want, for their part, to impose on young doctors to settle in these medical deserts.
