12:17 p.m. : It is high time to recall the main news of the day:

• Candidates from the presidential majority qualified for the second round of legislative elections in ten of the 11 constituencies for French nationals living abroad, as did Nupes. But Manuel Valls was eliminated in the first round.

Conservative MPs have triggered a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Boris Johnson, from their camp. Voting will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. If he loses, Johnson will be replaced by another member of his party in Downing Street.

The situation has “aggravated” for Ukrainian forces in Sievierodonetsk, a key city in the Luhansk region, according to Ukrainian authorities. Yesterday they claimed that half the town had been taken back.

11:47 : These legislative elections do not necessarily thrill the crowds, but they are eagerly awaited by parliamentary staff. It is indeed their job that is often at stake if the MP for whom they work is not re-elected. “It’s one of the only jobs in France where you can learn about our dismissal live on television”quips one of those who testified to Victoria Koussa.

12:13 p.m. : Certain polls published in recent days, which attribute to the presidential camp a number of seats lower than an absolute majority, undoubtedly fuel the concern of Emmanuel Macron’s supporters. But can we trust these studies which attempt to prefigure not voting intentions, but the composition of the Assembly? Mathieu Gallard, director of studies at the Ipsos institute, explains how they are made and their limits to our journalist Thibaud Le Meneec.

12:13 p.m. : Six days before the first round of the legislative elections, some in the presidential majority are showing some concern, according to the testimonies collected by our journalist Victoria Koussa. Whether executives are expected to show more this week, an adviser says he fears “overconfidence” and hopes that Emmanuel Macron gets involved in the campaign: “There is only one who is audible, it is him”.

11:02 : The FO union has, since Friday, a new general secretary, Frédéric Souillot. For his first interview, on RTL, he puts forward his intention to fight the government’s pension reform project: “If it was the mother of reforms, like the last time (with) retirement on points, for us it will have to become the mother of battles and it will be”.

10:36 : The outgoing deputy LREM Stéphane Vojetta, who presented himself as a dissident after the investiture of Manuel Valls by the presidential majority, will have the support of the latter in the second round of the legislative elections, in the constituency of the French established in Spain, in Portugal, in Andorra and Monaco. “Of course we will support himannouncement on franceinfo Stanislas Guerini, Minister of Transformation and Public Service.

10:35 a.m. : Hello @Louise. The article of the Electoral Code concerning the disclosure of results does not mention the case of the constituencies of French nationals living abroad. But the rule concerning the overseas departments is instructive: the results can be announced there when the last polling station in the department concerned closes, and not throughout France. I imagine that the same logic prevails everywhere outside mainland France. French Polynesia is another example: the results have been known there since Saturday, the day of the vote.

10:35 a.m. : Hello. Do we know why the results of this 1st round of voting by French people abroad were made public before the 1st round in France?

08:33 : Another lesson learned from voting by French people living abroad is the popularity of internet voting, despite some technical problems. According to the results posted online by the Quai d’Orsay, 77% of the votes were cast online. This is the second time, after 2012, that it was possible to vote online in the legislative elections in these constituencies, which sometimes include dozens of countries. Turnout remains low: between 12.1% and 29.1% depending on the constituency.

10:33 am : Elisabeth Moreno, the former minister delegate in charge of equality between women and men, won 28.1% of the votes in the first round among French people living in the Maghreb and West Africa. She is clearly ahead of the Nupes candidate Karim Ben Cheïkh (40%), in a constituency where the outgoing LREM, M’Jid El Guerrab, had withdrawn his candidacy.

07:47 : Joachim Son-Forget is the only outgoing MP to be eliminated in the first round among the French abroad (two others did not represent themselves). He collected just under 4.5% of the vote in the constituency of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Elected in 2017 under the LREM label, he had left the party, supporting Eric Zemmour in the presidential election, without being invested by Reconquête!. The candidate chosen by the majority, the economist Marc Ferracci, came first with 36.5% of the vote, ahead of the candidate Nupes Magali Mangin (20.3%).

07:05 : In these constituencies of French people residing abroad, the second round will be held on Sunday June 19, as in France, or June 18 for the two American constituencies. Internet voting, on the other hand, will be open earlier, from June 10 to 15.

06:23 : The candidates of the presidential majority come first in eight constituencies, where they are ahead of the candidates of the Nupes. This is in the lead in two constituencies, including that of the French in Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Monaco, the only one where the majority candidate, Manuel Valls, does not pass the first round. Outgoing MP Stéphane Vojetta, elected under the LREM label in 2017 and qualified for the second round, however promised to stay “loyal” to Emmanuel Macron if he wins. Finally, in the 8th constituency, which notably includes Israel, Greece, Turkey and Italy, the outgoing UDI Meyer Habib is ahead of the majority candidate Deborah Abisror-De Lieme.

06:19 : We now know the full results of the first round of legislative elections for French people living abroad. You will find them on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but beware, they are only presented in number of votes and without mentioning the political leanings of the candidates…
