The 31 other NHL teams will therefore have until Tuesday, 2 p.m., to claim it. If he is not, he can then be submitted to the Laval Rocket.

This is therefore the solution that Kent Hughes found to manage his surplus of attackers to be expected with the return of Evgeni Dadonov. The latter is on the injured list due to a virus and he will be able to return to training on Tuesday.

On Saturday, Pitlick was left out for the fifth time in 12 games this season. In the seven games he played, he scored zero points.

The 25-year-old striker is a regular on waivers, having been called up twice rather than once last year; first by the Minnesota Wild, then by the Canadiens.

In addition to Pitlick, striker Christian Dvorak is also missing Monday morning. The team announced a day of treatment in his case. Dvorak appeared to hurt himself blocking a shot in Saturday’s loss to Vegas.

The Habs resume action Tuesday night in Detroit, city of rock.
