The Biarritz Olympique association separates from its senior women’s team

Removal, separation, change of structure within the BO Rugby amateur. The Biarritz Olympique association has decided to detach the senior women’s section from its fold. The “BOts” have finished in the regional semi-final of the Federal 2, eliminated by Nérac. A decision taken in the form of tension still present between the amateur, led by the former glories of the 2000s, and the SASP, chaired by Jean-Baptiste Aldigé.

The former 2nd line international tempers: “That does not mean that women will disappear. It is a transfer of structure.” As it happens to the FARthe Féminines Athlétiques Rugby, association at the origin of women’s rugby in 2014. In question: funding for this teamjustifies the president and former international, David Couzinet. “The FAR is somewhere financed by the professional structure via the bar they run in Aguiléra during the matches of the pro team. The BO association does not see a penny and I think that since our arrival we have done a lot for them, but today they seem to be closer to the professional section and somehow they took sides or turned to the SASP.”

The cadet team maintained

Against a background of conflict between pro and amateur structures, while the leaders of the women’s section have good relations with the club. Some players had also been part of signatories who requested the organization of a General Assembly and voted on April 3 for the dismissal of the office of “Galactics”. Procedure, the effects of which have been suspended by the courts on the form and the substance of which will be examined on Monday, June 27.

The current office of the BO Rugby Association also justifies a reform of the French Rugby Federation which wishes to integrate senior female teams within professional structures. “We are simply taking a little head start, and we approached the FFR, the French rugby authorities who assured us that it was going to take and announce arrangements quickly. It is therefore only a logical continuation. ”

Note that the amateur will still keep the women’s cadet team. “We are not intended to take care of a senior team, on the other hand, our objective is to promote rugby among the youngest and that is why the younger team will remain in our section.”
