Initial reports said officers were executing a search warrant at an apartment on Crescent Street around 7 p.m. when a man allegedly fell from the floor where the accommodation was located.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition, but there is no fear for his life.

The BEI, which investigates when a citizen is seriously injured or dies during an event involving a police officer, will have to shed light on the circumstances of the intervention. A security perimeter has been erected, and five investigators are heading to the scene.

A parallel investigation was also entrusted to the Sûreté du Québec, which will act as a support police force for the BEI.

In the meantime, the BEI invites anyone who witnessed the event to contact them via their website.
