The kick-off was given for the annual Restos du Cœur collection. It started this Friday morning in Creusois supermarkets, and will last until Sunday. Volunteers are hoping for donations of food and hygiene products for those in need. But with the increase in energy prices, a question arises, are the Creusois there?
Give even in difficult economic times
Tins, pasta, toothbrushes and even toothpaste, Régine hands the items to the volunteers of the Resto du Cœur. Like every year, she participates in the collection. Even if his portfolio is a little less provided this year. “We are all careful, explains this Creusoise. Despite everything when we know that there are always people for whom it is even more difficult than for us, we have to try to give a little. It may be a little less than usual, but hey, we still have to try to participate as much as possible.”
It was a concern for Gisèle, one of the Restos du Coeur volunteers. With rising energy costs in particular, will people always give so much? A concern dispelled during the collection: donations, there are! “We are still pleasantly surprised because there has been a lot. People say to themselves, like me, that we can find ourselves flat. It only takes very little!”
“We give a little here, a little elsewhere. We would like to be able to do more, but it’s not easy”
And with the war in Ukraine, calls for donations have been numerous for a week. Laurette tries to participate on her scale while continuing to give to the Restos du Coeur. “We give a little here, a little elsewhere. We would like to be able to do more, but it’s not easy.”
Objective 9,000 tons of food
During last year’s collection, the Restos du Coeur collected 7,800 tonnes of food across France. This year, it hopes to exceed 9,000 tons.
