The ambiguities of the abortion song

Go and have an abortion my darlinga song by Francis Lalanne in which a father absolutely wants his daughter to resort to voluntary termination of pregnancy.

We are in 1990, fifteen years after the Veil law, and we can be surprised since Lalanne has often defended the right of adolescents to love themselves as they see fit, which obviously includes a defense of contraception which allows them free and fulfilling sexuality; but there, he seems to attack the freedom to abort and it is not very coherent.

You will tell me that Francis Lalanne is not a champion of coherence but here, in this case, it is rather the song – the song in general which is not brilliantly coherent on the subject of abortion.

In the second episode of These songs that make the news airing this weekend, you hear excerpts from:

Remember: during the summer of 2019, La Playlist de Françoise Hardy was a crossing of the musical baggage of an author, composer and performer considered as the arbiter of the elegance of pop in France.

In July and August 2017, we spent A Summer in Souchon, during which Alain Souchon guided us on a tasty walk through a lifetime of love for song.

All summer 2016, in the company of Vincent Delerm, we wandered around in La Playlist Amoureuse de la Chanson, truant exploration of popular heritage. You can also extend the delicacies of this summer chronicle with the French song lovers dictionary, co-published by Plon and franceinfo.
