The A28 motorway cut to save a wandering horse between Le Mans and Tours

An unusual rescue operation took place this Thursday, April 14 on the A28 motorway which connects Tours to Le Mans: a horse escaped on the tracks near Ecommoy (Sarthe) and to allow firefighters and gendarmes to intervene, the axis was cut in both directions of traffic for more than an hour. The owner of the horse had stopped with his van at the Perrières rest area in Saint-Mars d’Outillé. The gendarmes do not yet know how the horse managed to get out.

The horse lies down on the tracks

Very distraught, the animal lay down on the road. Rescuers took a long time to approach him. He is not injured, according to information from France Bleu Maine. The highway is no longer cut off.

A collision between two cars also occurred at the tail end of the traffic jam which formed due to the closure of the motorway, causing only material damage. At 6 p.m. this Thursday, motorists can drive on one lane in the Tours-Le Mans direction.
