Space exploration is the theme of the Nuit des Étoiles 2022. The 32nd edition takes place during the weekend of Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August. The opportunity to observe the sky and, with a bit of luck, to see Mars and Venus!
The moon is the first to appear in Lavacquerie (Oise), Friday August 4th. It is just getting dark, and already 250 curious people are on the lookout. A few hours later, they are at the party. “It’s very pretty to see. You see Saturn from all angles, and frankly it’s a pleasant moment”, says a woman. If Saturn is the first planet to open the ball, the bravest will also be able to observe Jupiter, Mars and Venus, at the end of the night.
To enlighten novices, amateur astronomers have mobilized. “We come every year for the Night of the Stars to make people benefit from the use of our telescope, and [pour] to be able to share our passion for astronomy”, explains Karine Guzmann, amateur astronomer and member of the REPERES association. To identify constellations, some use apps. On the side of Martigues (Bouches-du-Rhône), the children were amazed by the unprecedented spectacle. More than 500 sites have been programmed across France.
