In 2018, neo-soul artist Leon Bridges and the instrumental group Khruangbin, originally from Texas, crossed paths during a tour. The two musical entities on the rise were at the same stage of their journey. Shortly after, the heir to Marvin Gaye, sound cousin of Michael Kiwanuka, and the trio with funk, world and psychedelic accents fell in love and blended together. “It’s not Khruangbin, it’s not Leon, it’s this world that we created together,” summed up bassist Laura Lee. On Texas Sunthe first microalbum released in 2020, the charm worked, we felt the Texan sun caress our cheek… Here they are in the heart of the night with a sequel: texas moon. Here too, a big tune acts as a magnetic pole. B-Side is tinged with a touch of Afrobeat, a taut bass line, a rhythmic groove that quivers with pleasure. Add to that the vocal presence of a relaxed and inspired Leon… Convincing. Once night falls, feelings rise; the other beaches are more lunar and languid.
