Ten “Devoir” interns for the summer of 2023

As summer is upon us, The duty once again welcomes a team of curious, ambitious trainees, ready to discover all the facets of this fabulous universe that is journalism. In partnership with Friends of DutyConcordia University, the Institute for Data Valorization (IVADO) and the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture, these are 10 interns with very diverse profiles who will enrich our newsroom in a beautiful way.

They will work under the supervision of our seasoned journalists Jessica Nadeau and Marco Fortier, as well as our head of investigation division, Stéphanie Vallet.

Here they are, in a nutshell:

Charles-Olivier L’Homme is about to start a master’s degree in political science, after a bachelor’s degree in the same field, with a detour to Sciences Po Paris. He is interested in international relations and migration issues.

Holder of a bachelor’s degree in applied politics and international relations from the University of Sherbrooke, Janie Dussault is completing a master’s thesis on right-wing extremism and hate speech on social networks. She wants to do journalism with the aim of fighting misinformation.

For an internship in data visualization, Clara Descurninges and Vincent Chrétien will work together on long-term projects in an innovative, even interactive format. A graduate of UQAM in journalism, Clara is passionate about statistics and data analysis.
