Zenith

After a rocky start to the season, Radio-Canada’s new music competition/variety show found its way into February, with unexpected and exciting performances from artists like Annie Villeneuve, Gabrielle Fontaine, Benoit McGinnis and Damien Robitaille. Increasingly radiant at the controls, Véronique Cloutier steers this enormous boat with as much aplomb as ever. And although we are still not convinced of the contribution of the captains, who would benefit from qualifying their comments instead of going into automatically rave flights often stuffed with flashy formulas, we will be there this week, for the start of the quarter-finals, which will oppose Lunou Zucchini and Éléonore Lagacé (generation Z), and David Savard and Jonas Tomalty (generation X).

Turn – Double Fault

Turn – Double Fault

Yes, we love tennis. But that’s not the only reason why we meet every Tuesday to follow the tortuous journey of Charles (Éric Bruneau), this former hopeful with self-destructive behavior. In reality, sport was just an excuse to talk about redemption, complex family dynamics, mental health and above all, parentage. The transformation of Charles into coach gave a second wind to the drama in eight episodes, which we guess strongly inspired by old Quebec rackets. Satisfying without being blue flower, this finale evokes a well-known escapade of Denis Shapovalov or Novak Djokovic. Notice to connoisseurs!

The Reluctant Traveler

The Reluctant Traveler

Do you dream of escape? This new travel show hosted and produced by Eugene Levy (Schitt’s Creek, American Pie) should work its magic. In each episode, the Canadian actor, who admits to not being very adventurous, visits a different destination, and explores extraordinary hotels. His itinerary includes Costa Rica, Japan, the Maldives, Italy, the United States and South Africa. And as you might expect, the images he brings back are striking. In a clip uploaded recently, Levy can be seen experimenting with dog sledding in Finland, the only winter destination of the lot. With his usual humor, the actor launches a weak “Nice to have known you” to the cameraman before starting his great frantic trip.
