The novelty
Breeder families
Our new weekly pet therapy half hour. As its title suggests, this documentary series produced by Sphère Média (The Groulx family, Cerebrum) highlights the work of breeders in a family setting. In each episode, we alternate between several families, including those of Marie-Élaine, who breeds Japanese Spitz in Montérégie, Karyna, who breeds English cockers, and Audrey, who breeds Cornish Rex cats in Mauricie. This week, the latter is preparing her kittens for the National Pet Show, bathing, nail trimming and ear cleaning included. We also witnessed the adoption of a sheepdog at Ariane, in Charlevoix. Overdose of cute animals!

The return
Gazebo
Nice surprise of 2021, this vitamin comedy signed by Marie-Soleil Dion and Louis-Olivier Mauffette, who also play the main roles, returns to service for 10 other mini-episodes. Filled with self-referential jokes, this sequel continues to explore the daily life of the couple who moved to Boucherville: depressed after abandoning their trip self-sufficiency, Loulou (Mauffette) becomes a volunteer director to help the mayor (delightful Sylvie Léonard) put on an amateur theater play, Marie (Dion) tries to eradicate her heavy accent in preparation for an audition to play Dolly Parton at the cinema, and Mathilde (Mathilde Boucher), now an influencer on TikTok, starts dating a former participant ofDouble occupation (Steve Felwin Diouf).

Roast Battle: the great duel
Since hitting the airwaves in 2019, Roast Battle sits atop Z’s ratings. This dominance is likely to continue into 2023, as its proven recipe remains unchanged. Hosted with aplomb by Ève Côté, the show is entertaining. This week, we are witnessing duels between Oussama Fares and Antoni Remillard, and Alex Lévesque and… François Lambert. Whistleblower alert: the ex-dragon suffers a severe beating at the hands of the young stand-up comedian. Judges Jean-François Mercier, José Gaudet and Jean-Thomas Jobin speak of a regular massacre. However, we can salute his courage to have tried the experiment. But bet it was a first and a last for the businessman.

Catching up
Friday Night Lights
We had heard a lot of good things about this series from 2006 to 2011, during its passage on NBC. But not being really (or rather, really not) a football fan, we had shunned her. It is therefore with a lot of delay that we repair our mistake, while we enthusiastically catch up with our five seasons. We love its nervous camera, its non-judgmental exploration of Republican Texan mentalities and, above all, its dense characters defended with accuracy by Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), Connie Britton (The White Lotus) and others Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther). Apart from a bumpy start to season 2, the series maintains a high level of quality over 76 episodes.
