All eyes are on Tehran after the attack on a journalist in London. Police say the three suspects left the UK following the attack. The victim is one of the presenters of an Iranian channel, which the mullahs consider hostile and which has been the subject of serious threats for months.
In the middle of the afternoon, Friday March 29, two men attacked Pouria Zeraati with a knife. He is located outside his home, in the Wimbledon district. The attackers escape in a car driven by an accomplice. Police say today that they quickly reached Heathrow Airport, without further details.
Threats received by the channel
Pouria Zeraati, after a brief stay in hospital, found his wife in a place under surveillance. He is one of the figures of Iran International, a channel made by Iranians in exile. A media that claims independent coverage of events in the country, declared a terrorist organization by Tehran.
The London editorial offices are secure, which does not prevent the threats received by the channel and by individual journalists. Some were followed in their personal movements, this happened on several occasions. Those most exposed benefit from close protection.
A wanted poster with photos of several figures from the chain and the word “Wanted” (wanted) written in bulk had even been published by the Iranian regime a few months ago. Today, Tehran denies any involvement in this aggression.
