Star wide receiver Mike Evans chose the status quo rather than testing the free agent market, ultimately preferring to accept the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ two-year, $52 million contract offer, a network reporter reported. NFL Network’ cited multiple sources familiar with the decision Monday morning.
Evans caught 79 passes for 1,255 yards and 13 touchdowns with the Buccaneers last season.
The 30-year-old veteran has had 10 seasons of over 1,000 yards since joining the Floridians in 2014.
The Texan notably won Super Bowl LV with the Buccaneers in 2020, and he was selected five times to participate in the Pro Bowl.
His 11,680 yards and 94 career touchdowns allow him to be the most prolific wide end in the history of the reigning champions of the Southern section of the National Association, far ahead of Chris Goodwin ( 6690 and 34).
Under this new deal, Evans should be able to finish his career with the Bucs.
