The alleged perpetrator of a triple homicide appeared Monday at the Longueuil courthouse. Mohamad Al Ballouz, 36, is accused of killing his wife and two children on the night of Saturday to Sunday in Brossard.
First responders stormed into an apartment on Saint-Laurent Boulevard shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday morning after a fire alarm went off. Three inert bodies were found on the spot, as well as the suspect. The latter was arrested on the spot.
The fire was quickly contained.
Following this tragedy, Mohamad Al Ballouz, 36, faced justice on Monday. He now faces two first-degree murder charges, as well as a second-degree murder charge and a charge of causing arson. He had no criminal history.
The suspect was himself injured in the cascade of events. He appeared by telephone from his hospital bed and is being held.
The victims were identified as a 38-year-old woman and two children aged 5 and 2.
