“Making sport, youth and community life the pillars of the France of tomorrow, a more inclusive, more united and stronger France.” These are the words with which Gil Avérous, the new Minister of Sports, Youth and Community Life, concluded his speech during the handover of power with Amélie Oudéa-Castéra and Sarah El Hairy on Monday, September 23 at the ministry’s headquarters in Paris.

He also announced that he wanted to put “take action to protect our athletes, our young people, our volunteers against all forms of violence”. “Every sports club must be a safe place where religious proselytism has no place”he added, referring to the principle of secularism affirmed “wherever it is necessary.” As for mental health, declared a “major national cause in 2025” by the Prime Minister, Gil Avérous assures that this “This will be one of our major projects” towards young people.
