Sunday in the NHL | The Wild defeats the Blackhawks 4-1

Marco Rossi scored two goals and the Minnesota Wild defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 on Sunday.

Mats Zuccarello had a goal and two assists while Matt Boldy completed the scoring for the Minnesota squad.

The Wild won their third straight game after firing head coach Dean Evason and replacing him with John Hynes.

The Wild had scored just 13 goals and suffered seven straight losses, leading to Evason’s firing. Since then, in three games, the team has dominated its opponents 13-3 in terms of goals.

Marc-André Fleury stopped 27 shots for the Wild, who recorded 10e consecutive victory against the Blackhawks.

The Chicago team suffered a third defeat in a row. Taylor Raddysh moved the strings while Petr Mrazek stopped 30 pucks.

Panarin collects four points and the Rangers come away against the Sharks

Artemi Panarin scored a hat trick and added an assist to help the New York Rangers defeat the San Jose Sharks 6-5 on Sunday night.

Mika Zibanejad, Will Cuylle and K’Andre Miller also scored for the Rangers, who won for the sixth time in their last seven games.

Vincent Trocheck and Jonny Brodzinski both collected two assists for the New Yorkers. Jonathan Quick stopped 23 pucks to bring his record to 7-0-1 this season.

The Rangers, who lead the Metropolitan Division, are 16-2-1 since starting the campaign with a 2-2-0 record. They lead the NHL in wins (18) and points (37).

Anthony Duclair, who added an assist, Jacob MacDonald, Fabian Zetterlund, Ryan Carpenter and Alexander Barbanov replied for the Sharks, who lost for an 11e times in 12 outings abroad this season.

Mackenzie Blackwood finished the game with 30 saves.

Panarin scored his third hat trick in a Rangers uniform and leads the team this season with 15 goals and 35 points.

Brad Marchand scores a hat trick and the Bruins win 3-1

Brad Marchand scored a hat trick in the third period and the Boston Bruins beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1 on Sunday night.

The Bruins lost 5-2 in Columbus a few days earlier, but gained revenge and won for the third time in a row. Jeremy Swayman blocked 24 shots.

Boone Jenner scored the Blue Jackets’ goal, while Spencer Martin stopped 25 pucks.

Trailing 1-0, the Bruins tied the game at 1:56 of the third period when Marchand’s shot from the right circle deflected off the stick of Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski and ended up in the net.

Marchand gave the Bruins the lead 3:41 later, on the power play.

The forward completed his hat trick with a wrist shot at 7:46 of play, once again on the power play, from the left circle.

Juuse Saros blocks 34 shots and the Predators win 2-1 against the Sabers

Juuse Saros saved 34 shots, Filip Forsberg scored his 13e team-high goal and the Nashville Predators defeated the Buffalo Sabers 2-1 on Sunday.

Yakov Trenin also found the back of the net in the first period for the Predators.

For the Sabres, Victor Olofsson scored on a penalty shot and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen blocked 27 shots. The Sabers have lost their last three games.

The Predators scored two goals in just over a minute of play in the first period.

Forsberg gave his team a 1-0 lead at 9:40 of play on a slap shot, then Trenin redirected Colton Sissons’ shot 1:14 later.

Midway through the second period, Olofsson took advantage of a penalty shot to unleash a wrist shot that allowed him to score his third goal of the season.

Sabers forward Alex Tuch left the game in the third period due to injury and did not return to the game.
