So far, Hydro-Québec has succeeded in restoring power to more than 330,000 customers, or 80% of households affected by the blackouts.

The most affected regions are the Outaouais with 21,000 clients, the Laurentians (17,000 clients) and Montérégie (13,000 clients), while in Montreal, more than 1,100 households were still plunged into darkness.

Some 600 Hydro-Quebec workers will be hard at work, while reinforcements will come to help from eastern Quebec, less affected by the gusts of strong winds.

Hydro-Québec is also announcing teams mobilized in New Brunswick.

“We still have more than 1,600 sites where we need to intervene. Several of these sites are located in remote areas and the repairs, sometimes very long, will restore service only to a small number of customers, ”the state-owned company said in a statement on Monday.

Closed schools

The blackouts that are raging forced the closure of some schools in the Montérégie. The Grandes-Seigneuries School Service Center had already announced the closure of schools on Sunday.

These are three schools that are closed for the day.
