In order to remove all traces of winter, mechanical brooms and watering can trucks will be active on “4100 km of streets and 6500 km of sidewalks”, specified the City of Montreal, in a press release. In addition, members of the cleanliness brigade will be present in 19 boroughs. These will help clean areas that are busier or hard to reach for different devices.

As part of this spring cleaning, Montrealers can do their part, the City said. Among the actions to be taken, it is in particular a question of respecting “the ban on parking during cleaning operations” and “the collection schedules”.

“I invite people to show good citizenship and eco-responsibility by throwing their garbage in the trash and cleaning the outside of their place of residence,” said Valérie Plante, mayor of Montreal, in a press release. It’s a small gesture, but one that makes a difference for the quality of our living environments and for the environment. »

A million and a half more for the cleanliness of the city center

In order to maintain and “preserve the beauty of our downtown core,” an additional $1.5 million will be allocated to cleanliness in the Ville-Marie borough. Measures include the installation of 50% more recycling and waste baskets. More employees will also be dedicated to cleaning and inspecting downtown.
