(New York) American pop star Justin Timberlake was not intoxicated when he was pulled over one night in June driving a BMW in an ultra-upscale area east of New York, his lawyer said Friday.
On tour in Europe, the 43-year-old singer, producer and actor was supposed to appear by videoconference before a judge in a court located 160 km east of the New York megacity, on the large island of Long Island, in the Hamptons region known for housing sumptuous residences of the very wealthy.
But Justin Timberlake let his lawyer Edward Burke assert in court that the “police made a number of very significant mistakes” including, according to his comments reported by the press, because “Justin was not drunk and should not have been arrested” on the night of June 17 to 18.
The artist had nevertheless “admitted the facts” that evening, the services of the prosecutor of Suffolk County, on Long Island, indicated to AFP at the time.
The star will have to explain himself via video on August 2.
