The local section of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), affiliated with the FTQ, which represents them, confirmed the information on Friday. Only the final details remained to be finalized.

The strike was due to take place next week, May 3-10.

The content of the agreement in principle has not been revealed, the union preferring to keep the scoop for its members, as is usually the case in such circumstances.

A general meeting of members will be held on May 12 so that they can decide on the agreement in principle, which has occurred in the last few hours.

The collective agreement for STL bus drivers had expired since August 2019.

The dispute is mainly about wages.
