The employment of people with disabilities is still a matter of concern. Indeed, many still remain in demanduse.
In recent years, people with disabilities have been able to find work. However, the situation remains to be improved. Many people with disabilities continue to be unemployed. The journalist Cecile de la Guerivière, present Tuesday, November 16 on the set of 12/13 of France 3, takes stock of the issue. “There are currently 483,000 disabled people looking for work. They represent 7.8% of job seekers. More than half are over 50 and 60% are long-term unemployed“, details the journalist.
Since 2005, the law has imposed measures on all employers to make it easier for people with disabilities to access employment. “Companies with more than 20 employees even have a quantified target. They must have more than 6% of their disabled staff in their payroll“, adds Cécile de la Guerivière. But it doesn’t all seem so obvious. “We can imagine that for construction sites, it is not so obvious. For some employers, this is a choice, they prefer to pay rather than hire a worker with a disability“, she continues. A contribution that “can range from 4,000 to 6,000 euros per year, per missing employee.“The problem also comes from accessibility to the premises, according to the journalist. “23% of companies are equipped to accommodate disabled workers. However, since 2007, all companies must adapt their local“, she concludes.
