After a first unsuccessful attempt to find a new rector last fall, the board of directors of the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM) recommends this time to Quebec to appoint Stéphane Pallage to the post of rector.
A consultation with, in particular, professors, student associations, lecturers and executives was in progress until Thursday noon. Stéphane Pallage, who was dean of the School of Management Sciences (ESG) from 2013 to 2017 and rector of the University of Luxembourg until last year, faced François Audet and Lisa Baillargeon.
After analyzing the results, the selection committee unanimously recommended his appointment for a five-year term. The participation rate was 68.79%. In the first row, Stéphane Pallage collected 451 votes, against 375 for François Audet and 83 for Lisa Baillargeon. Of the 1005 votes cast, 96 people voted for “none of these people”.
It is the government that will determine his date of entry into office.
