In the emergency room of the CHR d’Orléans, in the Loiret, the emergency room refuses to take certain patients, Thursday April 7. The staff is exhausted, with many sick leaves.

At the regional hospital center (CHR) of Orléans (Loiret), patients wishing to go to the emergency department on Thursday April 7 had to turn around. The establishment only treats vital emergencies. Indeed, almost all of the hospital’s nurses and orderlies have been on sick leave for several days. They denounce unbearable working conditions. “We had become machines, doing a given job. We were completely dehumanized”, says Marie Lefrançois, night nurse at the CHRO.

Since September 2021, 150 beds have been closed at the CHR, causing daily emergency room overcrowding and exhausted medical staff. “This suffering is explained by very degraded conditions of care for our patients who wait three, four days on stretchers”, explains Matthieu Lacroix, emergency doctor.
