For this first match of the year, Stade Lavallois was traveling to Saint-Ouen to face the Red Star in the iconic Bauer stadium. For this last game of the first leg, Laval’s goal is to reach the 30 point mark.
Tango footballers got off to a good start but failed to score. But it was without counting on the effectiveness of the National top scorer Geoffray Durbant which finds the opening, of the head, at the very end of the first period.
A quarter of an hour from the end, the Red Star manages to equalize. And once again, the Laval residents have shown a lot of determination by not being resigned. At the last second of regulation time, on an umpteenth corner (shot by Julien maggiotti), the defender Bryan goncalves arose to place an unstoppable header, scoring his second goal of the season in the league (1-2).
This is the sixth consecutive success away from Stade Lavallois this season (only one loss on the road in the first leg).
The evening at Bauer was marked by incidents in the stands with Mayenne supporters who were targeted.
It has been seven years since Stade Lavallois won its resumption match in January. At mid-championship, with 32 points, the Mayenne club is in 4th position in a truncated classification because four matches of this 17th day had to be postponed.
The coach’s reaction
For the Laval coach, Olivier Frapolli, “the incredible series continues“.
