A 51-year-old man attacked with a knife during his sleep by his own daughter, late Sunday evening, in Laval, managed to alert the authorities despite his serious injuries.
According to our information, it was the father of the family who contacted 911 shortly before midnight from his residence on rue Blaise, in the Fabreville district, where the attempted murder allegedly occurred.
When they arrived at the scene, the Laval police officers found the victim seriously injured with a stab wound.
The 50-year-old was rushed to hospital to treat his injuries, which would not, however, put his life in danger.
The police also arrested the victim’s daughter, a 16-year-old girl. No one else was inside the house at the time.
Nothing in the past
According to our information, the main suspect in this case did not seem agitated when she left the family home when she was escorted by the police.
An investigation was opened, in particular to try to establish the reasons which led to this attempted murder.
According to the authorities, there has never been a police intervention in this residence in the past.
Investigators and forensic identification technicians spent Monday night, as well as the morning, combing through the crime scene in an attempt to find evidence.
Unusual
This police battle commotion created a shock wave in this neighborhood located in the north of Île Jésus.
All the residents met by The newspaper all testified to the calm that usually reigns on rue Blaise.
“It’s pretty quiet here, that surprises me, loose Michel Lemay, a retiree. I really didn’t expect that.”
“It may be a little more violent than it was before [dans les environs]but never anything so serious”, adds Kim, a mother who prefers to keep her name silent.
According to the documents consulted by The newspaperthe 51-year-old man and his daughter have lived in the neighborhood since 2019. They were relatively discreet with other neighbors.
“This is the first time that there is an event [quelconque] with that family,” summarizes Annie for her part, adding that she saw the victim planting flowers on her land on the day of the tragedy.
The teenager arrested as a result of the crime should appear during the day Monday in the Youth Chamber, at the Laval courthouse, to answer a charge of attempted murder.
