Racism continues to rage in the stands of La Liga. A Sevilla FC supporter was identified and expelled from the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium, Saturday October 21, for “racist and xenophobic behavior” during the tenth day match against Real Madrid (1-1), the Andalusian club announced in a press release.

The Sevillian club specifies that it immediately reported this individual to the authorities and “condemns all racist and xenophobic behavior, even if it is isolated, as in this case” and says he is ready to collaborate with justice “to eradicate these attitudes, which do not represent the supporters of a club like Sevilla”.

In photos published by the Spanish press, we can see a man in white miming a monkey towards Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior. A recurring target in Spain, the attacker had already been the victim of racist acts on several occasions last season. The Brazilian was also heard by the courts on October 5 as part of an investigation into racist insults that he received in Valencia on May 21, 2022.

Last week, the Madrilenian spoke at length in the columns of France Football on the inaction, according to him, of La Liga. “They never did anything. I had already spoken with La Liga to say that this had to change. They didn’t listen to me.” he proclaimed before adding that he wasn’t going tonot change history”neither “make Spain a country without racists”.
