Spain | Two new triple Michelin-starred restaurants

(Madrid) The 2023 Michelin Guide for Spain awarded a third star on Tuesday to two restaurants, Atrio, in Cáceres, and Cocina Hermanos Torres, in Barcelona, i.e. 13 “three-starred” establishments in the country.

Atrio, by chef Toño Pérez, and Cocina Hermanos Torres, twins Sergio and Javier Torres, who both had two stars, thus joined the most select club in the guide, in an announcement during a gala at the Palacio de Congresos del Greco, in Toledo.

“This story begins 45 years ago, when everything that happened around a table seemed magical to us. […] We decided to open a restaurant and we have come so far,” said Toño Pérez during this gala.

In his restaurant in Cáceres, the chef offers “a cuisine of a high technical level and with creative accents where, through a unique and complete tasting menu” the flavors of the Extremadura region “are the main protagonists”, according to the Michelin Guide.

“We are two (young) children from the El Carmelo neighborhood (in Barcelona) who had a dream. We have achieved it, although there is still a long way to go,” said Sergio Torres, together with his brother.

Spain has also added three new 2-star restaurants to its list, bringing the number of establishments in this category to 34.

Since Tuesday, Spain has 203 restaurants with one star.
