In Andalusia, the month of April is more like a very hot month of August. It is almost 40°C in the city on Friday April 28, so daily life quickly becomes unbreathable.

In Seville (Spain), on the afternoon of April 28, only a handful of tourists braved the heat in the emblematic Plaza de España. Vacationers had not expected to experience such weather. “We took our tickets two months ago, we would never have expected to have almost 40°C, but hey, we’re going with it”says a tourist. At the water’s edge, a boatman notices that the heat is not an ally of tourism. His boats have almost all remained at the quay.

Summer in the middle of April

In the historic center of Seville, faced with the heat, 34°C in the shade, a guide had to cancel all his visits for the rest of the day. “We cannot risk the health of our customers”he says. In the streets, everyone is looking for a bit of freshness. The inhabitants are worried about experiencing summer in the middle of April. “In the near future, global warming could make this extraordinary month of April a spring month like the others”says Viktor Frédéric, special envoy to Spain.
