Her skill and nonchalance had won over the public. South Korean Olympic shooter Kim Ye-ji, who became a social media star after her performance at the Paris Olympics, has landed her first acting role, Asia Lab announced to AFP on Friday (September 20).
The silver medalist in the 10-meter pistol shooting will play in a series called Crushwhere she will play a hitwoman. The series will feature stars from at least seven different countries, including Indian actress and influencer Anushka Sen, and will address themes of racism and xenophobia.
A short video shot in May during a World Cup event in Baku, Azerbaijanand then her ultra-calm demeanor combined with futuristic shooting glasses and a baseball cap worn backwards at the Paris Games this summer, made her a viral phenomenon, thanks in part to the many montages widely shared on social media. Kim Ye-ji has also since signed a contract with a South Korean talent agency.
