Two killings that took place in two houses located on the same street in a rural town in South Africa left 17 people dead, the country’s national police announced on Saturday.
The spokesperson for the police force indicates that searches are underway to find the suspects. The victims are 15 women and two men.
One person is in critical condition and six others survived one of the killings.
The killings took place on Friday evening in the town of Lusikisiki, in the Eastern Cape province, southeast of South Africa.
South Africa has one of the highest homicide rates in the world.
